Towerdweller entails sound design and compositional exploration, leading to harsh and difficult results. Only a couple of these tracks would ever work in a club; the rest are club structures stretched out into new dimensions or with certain elements curiously replaced with new designs of my own making, virtual synthesizers in all their glory. Within Towerdweller one may find additive, subtractive, frequency-modulation, and wavetable synthesis, as well as the occasional manipulation of sampled material. There is little abstraction from these techniques except as necessary to create environments in sound, which are in and of themselves impossible for listeners to recreate exactly due to their arbitrarity. The club is functional: no one will play these tracks on a dancefloor because their function differs significantly. They are meant to be danced to in messy bedrooms, heard on prosumer-grade headphones, and, with time, guided into infinity. All this with a goddamn laptop.
